Know which process you are entering

In Texas, ARD refers to the admission, review and dismissal committee process. SPEDTex’s parent guide explains evaluations, eligibility and individualized education programs. Use the current official guidance to understand the process; a preparation service does not make eligibility or placement decisions.

Create a short parent priorities page

ARKTIK suggests four headings: strengths, current barriers, examples and questions. Include dated observations and representative work when useful. Separate what you observed from what you think may explain it.

Make your questions specific

  • What information supports this recommendation?
  • What goal is being proposed, and how will progress be measured?
  • Who is responsible for the agreed support, and when does it begin?
  • How will I receive updates or raise a concern?
  • What documents should I review after the meeting?

Leave with a follow-through list

Record decisions, unresolved questions, responsible people and expected dates. Ask the school to clarify anything you do not understand. Keep final school documents separate from your personal notes.

Understand ARKTIK’s role

ARKTIK can help organize records, prepare questions and provide invited meeting support within an agreed scope. This is nonlegal educational navigation. It does not guarantee a diagnosis, eligibility, a particular IEP, placement, funding or dispute outcome. Legal representation and clinical services require appropriately qualified professionals.
